Back Pain
Back pain is very common with women who are new mothers, and taking care of a new baby makes it even harder to take steps toward relieving back pain. However, there are some easy steps that you can take in order to help ease aches and pains.
It is important to get as much sleep as you can, and also to drink as much water as you can manage. After that, you should concentrate on sitting up straight while sitting, relaxing your shoulders while walking, and lifting your child slowly with a straight back and strong arms.
If you can manage it, try to make time for easy exercises like yoga and pilates that concentrate on core strength and lean muscle development. Look for videos or television shows that make it possible to do these workouts at home, or even enroll in a class that includes your child. Mommy-and-me yoga classes are becoming more common, and will give you the chance to stretch and strengthen your back while also giving you time with your new baby.
If you gained extra weight during your pregnancy, it is important to work on healthy diet changes in order to lose as much extra weight as possible. Doing so will relieve the added strain on your body from carrying around extra pounds. The stronger and healthier you are overall, the easier your back pain will be to manage.
If careful diet, moderate exercise, and regular vitamin intake do not begin to relieve your pain, you should also consider other easy steps like replacing old mattresses, adding mattress pads, and replacing pillows in order to create the most supportive possible sleep environment. Severe back pain should be treated by a doctor or chiropractor in order to rule out or properly treat any potential medical conditions.
