One of the less serious disorders out there is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Ocd is a mental condition where a person gets anxiety from thinking about intrusive thoughts. This then leads to the mentality that something bad is going to happen to them. This causes people to gloom and stop doing their daily activities.

People don’t take ocd seriously enough. If it is stopping them from living their normal every day lives then shouldn’t it be looked further into? Instead of providing the patient with all different types of medications that suppress the OCD, shouldn’t they try to find cures? What starts happening is that the patient slowly becomes addicted to the medications which have their own set of side effects.

There is therapy out there and there are classes people can take but it doesn’t help the mass amount of people suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder. Let say you have a swallowing ocd and you always think your gonna choke if you eat something. Every time you go out with your friends you’re always thinking about choking and you wont eat unless you’re at home where you feel save.

You wont tell anyone about your ocd because you are embarrassed about what individuals are going to think of it. Doctors can only help to some extent. So what should be done to help ocd patients? More government funding should go to supporting clinics that specialize in ocd and testing.
