Low Calorie Diet

If you are looking to lose weight, a low calorie diet might be just what you are looking for. Typically, these are the easiest diets to follow, as you only have to count one thing, which is your calorie consumption.

The best way to find out how many calories you need to consume would be to visit your doctor, he or she can tell you exactly how much you need to eat and how many meals you might need to break these calories into.

For example, if you are given 1500 calories a day to work with, you might be tempted just to break this into three basic meals. Doing this can leave you hungry and lead to late night snacking. If you are allotted 1500 calories, you can work with this in many ways to give yourself a constant feeling of fullness, which is going to keep you from feeling hungry and then giving into the temptation of a candy bar or a bowl of ice cream.

The main thing to remember when doing a low calorie diet is to get the bang for your proverbial calorie buck. A 100 calorie mini candy bar is not the equivalent of a 60 calorie tub of yogurt with 40 calories worth of sliced strawberries. With the yogurt and strawberries, you will be able to eat what looks like more, therefore, giving your mind and stomach the feeling of having more to eat.

The truth is, dieting is all about making your body feel like it is eating more than it really is. Having a 500 calorie pack of French fries will not satisfy your body like having a plate of a chicken breast, a large salad and a baked potato, ranging around the same calorie content.

Dieting can be frustrating, but learning how to eat correctly and trick your body into fullness is the key to success.
