Raw Food Diet

The raw food diet is a healthy way to lose weight. Beginning a raw food diet, or “going raw” as those in the community refer to it, is a great and healthy way to lose weight. What you will need is a high powered blender and access to fresh fruits and vegetables. This is why summer and fall are the best times to “go raw.”

A good way of easing into this lifestyle is to start your day with a veggie/fruit smoothie. My favorite recipe includes 1 small apple, a handful of spinach, a cup of fresh coconut, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1 carrot, and any other fresh fruit that you enjoy and have easy access to.

An easy lunch or dinner option is to make yourself a very large salad. Using spinach or kale as the green base for your salad will ensure that it is rich in iron, protein, and many essential vitamins. Fresh, uncooked nuts and seeds are a great snack to include in this diet.

One concern that people have when they are trying the raw food diet, is the perceived limited selection of foods to choose from when they go out to a restaurant. One solution to this is to put in a special order with your server. Any good restaurant will accommodate their customers with dietary restrictions. It is easy for the chef to put together a salad with all the fresh ingredients in the kitchen. I have taken this approach myself many times, and I have never been disappointed in my meal. It is usually the most appetizing looking dish on the table, and I leave the experience feeling great because I have not overeaten as so many people do when they go out to eat. You can expect to loose between 10 and 12 pounds a week on a raw diet, and you will have a lot of energy doing it.
